Day 170

Thursday, December 8, 2016

Temperature: High 34° / Low 24°
"Feels like 18°" was the highest it said all damn day!

What Kind  of Day Did I Have & Why?

PRODUCTIVE. I’ve been down the past few days, but I made up for it today. I got my pot roast cooked, cleaned up a bit, completed a good amount of work and got my workout in. I got it done today!

How Do I Feel? Health/Lupie Status?

I had a rough night of sleep, but woke up in a much better condition than last night. I could definitely feel my progression throughout the day. The more I got done, the better I felt! I did take one more prednisone this morning, but don’t see a need for it tomorrow (unless I have a relapse when I wake up). That being said, I’d give today a strong 4.

Workout Time & Duration?

Tonight’s workout was much needed. Since I only did some cardio in our building yesterday, I was happy to get into the gym. And since the temperature was intent on dropping all damn day, I put on my million layers to walk to the gym, but I made it damn it! I listened to my body and one of my exercises scheduled for today was too hand intensive...So what did I do? I did what I was supposed to do and stopped that exercise and moved on to something else. I had a special guest as a workout partner today, so it was an extra special return to the gym for me. Che completed Back & Shoulders Day with me! And, it only took us about an hour to get through it all.

Loving Black Love Moment?

Working out together tonight was something special. Not only does it feel great to be achieving our fitness goals together, I love doing our physical activity in unison. For example, lift weights and doing our core exercises in rhythm are bonding moments. We go to the gym together often, but actually doing the SAME workout...that is different! And I fell in love with him a little more tonight at the YMCA.

Destination Wedding Task Tackled:

This morning I woke up to an email from Lea at Aline Mayan letting me know that she will be going to the markets in downtown Guatemala to source the fabrics for our napkins. THIS is why I chose her as my top pick! Next day responses will win me over every time!  That in addition to her commitment to using beautiful and ethically sourced textiles. She won’t be purchasing anything until we choose from the textile options she sends us and she offered to look for 10 different options and I’m ridiculously excited about this. I don’t think I’ve spent this much time on anything else in this wedding, so it’ll be great to see my hard work start to materialize with these napkins. After lots of deliberation and searching for specifics, now the creativity begins!!! Come on Monday! Okay, I’ll give her until Tuesday. I can make it that far.

Any Old Destination Wedding Tasks Making a Comeback?

On the way to the gym, Che mentioned that when we haven’t checked in on Tripadvisor in a while. When we first decided to stay at Secrets Maroma Beach Resort for our wedding weekend, we checked Tripadvisor religiously.Well, really he checked it religiously. But now we haven’t checked in a long time. I think he’ll do that soon, but we’ll see. The crazy checkups back then happened because of a sargassum (seaweed) outbreak that was going on in the Caribbean around the time we were engaged. Now it has cleared up, but it was a risky decision to pick our location since it is known for the beautiful beach. Luckily it looks like we are in the clear now. We really loved the beach and knew that no other beach could beat Maroma, so we gambled a bit on that one! I did a quick search on Tripadvisor again, and the reviews are still amazing! We'll be there in no time!

He won't let me work! Always playtime!

What am I happy for?

Chillin with his homie Spike

Chillin with his homie Spike

Spartacus’ happy go lucky demeanor. This dog is an attention-whore, but he makes sure my spirits are always up. Now, if he could only take his damn self outside to go for a walk. That’d really be something to be happy for! A girl can wish!

What could I have done better?

As soon as we got to the damn gym I realized that i forgot to eat lunch!
I ended up running to the CVS to get a protein shake to hold me over, but this is turning into a thing and I gotta nip it in the bud quickly...Just this week alone, I think I forgot lunch 3 days...and it’s only friggin Thursday!

What am I doing tomorrow?

Eating lunch!
And hopefully, we will be getting our Christmas tree too!
